I have practiced dentistry for forty years and since 1988 I have done so with a Neuromuscular approach. Patients in a dental setting with head/neck pain require a team approach. A dental appliance is not a magic bullet. In my office Tom, Abigail and myself are that team. Generally, I place an intraoral appliance to decompress the temporal mandibular joint and re-position the mandible. Following placement of the oral appliance Tom and Abigail assess and commence treatment using their own TraumaPractik methodology. As they unravel the body dysfunctions I adjust the oral appliance to maintain a balanced neutral position. My patients are amazed by what TraumaPractik treatment does and by how well Tom and Abigail explain what they are doing. By the conclusion of that first treatment with Tom and Abigail patients are on board 100 percent because they can feel immediate improvement.

Head neck pain is not “psychosomatic” It is definitely somato psychic. The body is telling the brain that there are problems. The body is asking for help. Incorporating TraumaPractik in my dental treatments is absolutely necessary to get permanent healing and allows me to reconstruct the dental arches if necessary.
