About Us

Abigail Szathmary

In her 26 year career as a nurse, Abigail gained experience in several fields: emergency, accident and orthopedics, family medicine, gerontology to name a few. In 1993, following a series of automobile accidents in which she suffered severe whiplash, she was forced to re-evaluate her understanding of injury and trauma and their effects upon the body/mind/spirit continuum. The impact was profound and provided the impetus for her ongoing voyage of discovery in healing.

Combining her traditional medical background with studies in osteopathy, neuromuscular therapy, cranio-sacral therapy, process acupressure and natural health therapies, Abigail is able to effectively treat a broad range of injuries and traumas.

Ryno (Tom) Tomlinson

A teacher and therapist of many years, Tom draws from a multi-disciplinary background that includes the military, physical anthropology, neuromuscular therapy, cranio-sacral therapy, naturopathy and osteopathy.

Over the years, he has practiced in Europe, Africa and Canada. His expertise has been utilized in a broad range of applications, from post-traumatic stress, brain injury and motor vehicle accidents, all the way to neo-natal care.

Together, Abigail and Tom run a very successful clinic in Ottawa. Over the years they have developed TraumaPractik™, a dynamic approach to the brain/body continuum that is both a methodology and a philosophy. At the request of their patients, they have created the Anatomy of Trauma workshops in order to teach others their unique style of practice
